How does our public transport quality control system work?

We believe that effective and reliable supervision of operators, carriers and other organisations responsible for transport is essential to maintaining a high quality of public transport services. Discover how Transport Quality Center makes this possible.

#1

inspection manager Planning inspections

In the web application, the inspection manager designs inspectors' work schedules, inspection tasks and scopes, and more.

#2

inspector Tasks and inspection scope in the mobile app

The inspector uses a mobile application that provides all information needed for day-to-day work, including planned inspection tasks, inspection scopes and timetables.

#3

inspector Field inspections (part 1)

The inspector carries out planned field inspections, for example noting a damaged shelter at an inspected stop and documenting the issue with photos and a written description.

#4

inspector Field inspections (part 2)

The inspector carries out planned field inspections, for example recording passenger volumes at a stop while checking a vehicle's technical condition and signage.

#5

inspector Synchronising data from the mobile app

Our software synchronises inspection results, photos and other data collected during work to the web application.

#6

analyst Reporting and data analysis

The analyst creates reports on identified issues for internal use and for operators, carriers, companies or authorities responsible for stop infrastructure, for example to calculate contractual penalties for services delivered unreliably.

They also analyse passenger volumes, punctuality and other factors that directly or indirectly affect the design of new timetables and help identify areas of the transport network that need the greatest improvement.

Mobile application for Android

The Android mobile application, for both phones and tablets, is designed for field-based public transport quality inspections. Inspectors can check stop infrastructure, displayed timetables, vehicles, service quality, technical condition, signage, passenger volumes and much more. Inspections can also be carried out according to a predefined schedule.

Synchronisation and offline work

All timetable changes are imported automatically, so the inspector always works with the current timetable saved in the device's local database. This means the application does not require a permanent internet connection.

Easier work with location services

Mobile-app users have access to a range of helpful features. Their location is automatically shown on a map, where they can see information such as nearby stops and the closest scheduled services.

Supporting the public transport quality-control process
  • Automation of the inspection process.
  • Advanced data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Faster delivery of inspection results and greater reliability, for example by verifying the inspector's location against the inspected place.
  • Tools for planning inspection tasks.
  • Tools for managing an issue throughout its lifecycle: from reporting, through reporting and analysis, to field re-verification.

Inspection scope

The system supports inspections of operators' and carriers' transport services, as well as every element of infrastructure used directly or indirectly by passengers:

  • Passenger-volume surveys (in vehicles, at stops, etc.).
  • Carrier service punctuality.
  • Correctness, legibility and completeness of vehicle, stop, shelter and station signage.
  • Technical condition of vehicles.
  • Cleanliness of vehicles, stops, shelters and stations.
  • Creating photographic documentation directly in the mobile application.
  • Condition of infrastructure and related elements at stops, stations and shelters.
  • Currency, correctness, legibility and completeness of displayed timetables and other passenger information.
  • Recording carrier-staff behaviour that does not comply with rules or regulations.
  • Recording incidents where a vehicle fails to stop at a mandatory stop.
  • Other functions that can be defined independently in the system.
We rate Transport Quality Center positively: it meets our expectations for transport-service quality control and provides a wide range of tools for reporting and data analysis. We are also pleased with the mobile application, which has optimised and accelerated the field inspection process.

Web application Transport Quality Center

The web application is the central part of Transport Quality Center, used to manage timetables, schedule inspections, report and analyse data. Below, we present selected features.

Reporting

The extensive Business Intelligence reporting module makes it possible to create virtually any report. The system lets users view reports in the web application, configure them and export them to popular formats such as Excel or PDF. Its innovative tools allow people with basic SQL knowledge to design reports.

Reports can cover every aspect of inspection: from inspectors' own work, through summaries and statistics, to issues reported for carriers, companies or authorities responsible for stop infrastructure, for example to calculate contractual penalties for services delivered unreliably.

Data analysis

The Data Analysis module offers a range of functions for statistical data processing. Its advanced tools focus on data visualisation and analysis, following the principle that one picture is worth a thousand words.

Integration with external systems
